Sometimes we find ourselves cuffed to whatever some video games have to offer with their Field of View. Some competitive shooters restrain players from having an FoV choice due to “fairness”, while other developers just resist adding the feature as an option. The same thing happens in Marauders, the first-person looter-shooter by Small Impact Games and Team17, where an FoV slider does not exist from the options menu.
We are not judging the game developer because Marauders is still in closed beta, so the missing FoV option might be because of it. On release, we believe it will be there because currently, you can still adjust it manually from the game’s config file.
An FoV slider allows the players to change their field of view. Increasing that value would grant a better perspective on the surrounding environment by increasing the player’s peripheral view. Having it as an option is much appreciated, especially in a close combat area such as what Marauders offers now. Why exactly? Because having it on higher contributes to a better spatial awareness, which is somewhat good for that particular game.
On the contrary, High or Low FoV each bring different pros and cons to the table. For a game saturated with long-distance battles, low FoV might enlarge your targets (make them look closer to you), while high FoV would make them feel distant and smaller. But for a puzzle environment such as in Marauders with a bunch of mystical corners, a higher FoV value should be more beneficial. Enough talking, let’s see how you can change the Field of View in Marauders below.
How to set a custom Field of View in Marauders?
- Open: \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\MaraudersAlpha\RaidGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
- Find and open: GameUserSettings.ini
- Add this line: FieldOfView=CustomPrefferedValue – where you replace CustomPreferredValue with an FoV number of your choice.
