Escape From Tarkov's Latest Event Asks For Your In-Game Currency

Update #2: Flea Market is back. Read more about it here.

Update #1: Recently, the developer updated the /cash page on its official website, adding an image mentioning dates, the recent conflict, and how it can be resolved. The image containing the report regarding the aggravation of the situation and complete cessation of trade operations in the city of Tarkov can be found below.

Right when the image was added, Nikita, the COO of Battlestate Games, posted the picture on his personal Twitter, focusing on the document’s top right, where the number 600 is written. So, what exactly does this mean?

600 could be there for the UCP 600, a set of rules set by the International Chamber of Commerce regarding what the letter says. UCP 600 applies to financial institutions issuing letters of credit, a regulation to standardize international trade to reduce the risks of trading goods and services. If you would like to educate yourself more on the UCP 600, check this link.

Hence, even if it doesn’t look like a letter of credit, we talk about a game. A Letter of Credit is a contractual payment, in this case, issued by A. Visser, in a slightly different form. The letter clearly states that the issue will resolve after the fulfillment of the conditions set by LK (Lightkeeper) is met. In this way, we’ll get to see the retrieval and activity of traders within the Tarkov region. Letter of Credit assures both the buyer and seller, which in this case is between LK and the players.

There is May 1st as a date on that document, so if I was to guess that would be the date when the document was issued (even if we’re not there yet), rather than a deadline. Even if there’s a wipe on May 1st, I believe the traders won’t return back until the players deposit the whopping 1,500,000,000,000 (one trillion and five hundred billion). In this case, only Ligthkeeper will be available as a trader, which is a fair promotion of his arrival to the Tarkov region. Good luck to those operating on Lighthouse!

Jumping to the conclusion, we’re hardly going to see anything until players deposit all of the money unless Battlestate Games decide to just wipe whenever they like. It will be fun to see what happens next, as even some of the wealthiest players resist giving their rubles away. That’s my theory. If you have a better one, let us know in the comments below! We also shouldn’t forget the fact that Nikita said he will only remove the FLEA and Traders for 5 days.

Old Writing

Who needs an artificial wipe when we can have a natural one? In a recent tweet, Battlestate Games posted a letter that depicts an unnatural occurrence of Scavs stealing money in Escape From Tarkov. Bags full of money, they say. They do steal them, but it is probably for a good cause, and that’s retrieving the traders back in action.

The teased letter can be found just below:

According to the translation from BakeeZy, it means the following:

Ch, you won’t believe it! I got a new job to transfer bags of money. Bags FULL OF MONEY, I swear! Each of them is completely full. I don’t know how many of them I transfered through the night. I have never seen this amount of money in my life. I would tell you take “Glist” and lets steal at least one of the bags. But the guys giving orders are scary as fuck. They look at you once and you feel it in your gut. You feel that they flay you alive if you lose at least one bill. But it won’t be me if I don’t steal at least one pack. While I was carrying the bags around Tarkov area I also saw something interesting. Some guys are carrying money from scav cases and the funny thing is they are just taking the money from scav cases and are not bringing anything back. I saw some guys who were doing orders for foreigners back in the days and now they are carrying bags of money too. Also it seems PMCs are stashing all the luxury stuff in marked circles. Sectants must be involved in all of this. One of the PMCs gave me some money on the way but I couldn’t understand if it needs to be carried to the location as well or what. Like, am I supposed to deliver only the money I took from scav case? What do you think? I don’t want to ask those scary guys.

P.S. It’s time to find out whose getting all that money. I’m really carious and nobody is talking. Maybe it is somehow related with all the traders’ shops being closed? I heard they lost big money, I’m extremely happy about that. -“Rijiy”

So how exactly does this event work? If you go into your hideout, you will notice the Scav case being slightly reworked, giving you options to deposit a lot of money. There are no other options besides that. Moonshine is out of the question. From 25,000 to 10,000,000, there is a total of 5 available options. Battlestate Games is tracking all the deposited money for the cause. The link can be found just below:

The collective effort will probably return the traders to the Norvinsk region, becoming accessible in the game. The goal has been updated. Basically, it requires a total of 1,500,000,000,000 (one trillion and five hundred billion) roubles to be collected. Then we’ll get to see what happens next.
